Day 2 of my self assigned 30 days of chaos art challenge has arrived, and I think that’s the name I’ve finally settled on. I often call my creative process chaos crafting, so as I’ve documented this 30 day challenge, I’ve gone between calling it a chaos crafting challenge and an art challenge, but really it’s both.

Arts and crafts.

They go together like peanut butter and jelly… but for ADHD people with too many hobbies.

For Day 2, I inked a little whimsigoth sketch of a snail on a mushroom surrounded by flowers and foliage. I find that sometimes I’m in the mood for more kawaii style drawing—I mean, they’re so cute and I love the instant gratification I get from a quick sketch—but if I really think about my style and the kind of art I love to create, it’s this.

I realized that part of the reason I sometimes stay away from this style is that I’m a self taught artist, and there are a lot of skills and techniques I’m still learning. I love the process, but the recovering perfectionist who isn’t perfect at something right away isn’t always on board.

I did get the drawing done, and I was so very proud of it!

Then I promptly handed it off to my sister who has stellar color theory skills so she can do the digital coloring of it. I’ll practice that another day… one skill at a time.
